The Science
There is not a product in the world that contains the same chemical makeup as Hot Shot’s Secret FR3 Friction Reducer, making it truly a one-of-a-kind. It contains the most effective nano lubricant available, nano carbons. Nano carbon particles are spherical in shape and are less than 10 nano meters in diameter. This allows the lubricant to find the voids and blemishes on a machined surface, fill these gaps and provide a smoother surface for the lubricating film to form.
While nano carbons are highly effective on their own as a friction reducer, FR3 Friction Reducer also contains two other patented lubricants blended into the formula. The synergy between these patented lubricants have unique lubricating properties even compared to PAO or mPAO synthetics of the same viscosity. FR3 Friction Reducer is also negatively charged, allowing it to attach itself to the oil-wetted components inside your engine. The esters inside FR3 Friction Reducer are also responsible for the increased rubber seal lubrication as well as a slight swelling of seals for less oil leaks.
Wear rates are reduced by 43% on the ASTM G-133 test when using FR3 Friction Reducer. The patented nano particles cross link at the surface, which increases film strength and boundary lubrication. The synergy of these components extends the base oil performance in shear stability, oxidation stability, film strength and especially friction reduction.

I have an old fashioned oil can with some synthetic motor oil in it that I use for all sorts of things. I added the FR3 to it and it is working AWESOME!!! I got one of the old hand crank sharpening stones that would not go half a turn it once you let go because the gears were gummed up so much! The synthetic motor oil by is self helped but once I added a drop of the FR3 to it, it seems like it will turn forever when you let go of the handle!! I also used this on our 10 year old washing machine which is supposed to be unserviceable. At some point the tub seal failed and water started getting into the upper bearing of the gear box and rusting it out! I figured that if water could get in then so could the synthetic motor oil with the FR3 in it!! When I first pulled it apart I didn’t know that the center shaft for the agitator moved separately from the main drive shaft(This was my first time taking a washing machine apart) But once I found out they moved separate, I added some of the synthetic motor oil with FR3 to both ends of the agitator shaft, worked it in some and let it set over night. By morning I was able to move the agitator shaft by it’s self. I also did the same with the upper and lower gear box bearings a few times each also letting them set over night. When I got it back together, I can no longer hear the agitator cycles when they are running even if I am in the room next door to the washer. The spin cycle is still loud, not as loud as it was! but when I put my hand on the washer during the spin cycle I can hardly feel the washer move! When should I add FR3 to my engine’s oil?
You should add FR3 Friction Reducer to your engine’s base oil during each regularly scheduled oil change. The treatment ratio for our oil friction reducer is 1.5 ounces of FR3 per quart of oil. FR3 is compatible with most mineral and synthetic base oils, as well as motor, transmission, gear and hydraulic oils, so you can feel comfortable adding it to your vehicle’s most critical systems.
Can I use FR3 with other oil additives?
We do not recommend using FR3 Friction Reducer at the same time as any other oil additives, including our own. However, you can alternate using FR3 and Hot Shot’s Secret Stiction Eliminator to help remove the buildup created by burnt oil. For the best results, use Stiction Eliminator for the first oil change and FR3 Friction Reducer for the next two oil changes, then repeat the cycle.
Will using FR3 void my engine’s warranty?
Using FR3 will not damage your engine’s components or void your manufacturer’s warranty. That’s a guarantee. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents manufacturers from using unfair or misleading warranty disclaimers, and it also ensures your warranty remains in effect when you use our additives. Just remember to use FR3 with a type of oil recommended by your manufacturer for use with your engine.
